Gordon Marshall, Woodturner

Gordon Marshall is a resident of Upper Tantallon - near world renowned Peggy's Cove, in picturesque Nova Scotia, Canada. Gordon has been working with wood since his teenage years in rural Nova Scotia. He was introduced to woodturning in 2003, and it quickly became a true passion. Gordon has continued to advance his skills and in 2008 he started a concentrated study into "Segmented Woodturning" - a specialized type of woodturning, where he can design the exact style and shape that he wishes to produce. Using both local and exotic timber in combination, he has produced award-winning bowls, vessels and other shaped forms that highlight the different colors and textures of the woods.

In 2014 Gordon achieved the status of "Juried Member" of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council. Juried status means that his work has gone through a rigorous review process assuring customers receive works of the highest quality and original design.

Wanting to pass along his knowledge to others,
Gordon instructs private students on a one-to-one basis at his studio,
as well as teaching group classes on woodturning at the
Nova Scotia Center for Craft and Design (NSCCD) and Lee Valley Tools

Gordon is an active member of the local Nova Woodturners Guild as well as a member of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), Segmented Woodturners a chapter of the AAW and the provincial Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council.
